Spring Wild Flower Landscapes

The spring wild flower season is nearly done.   With the memorial day weekend, my mind shifts from wild flowers to insects.   Our dragon flys have started emerging and should be a great show over the next few weeks.

But for now, I'll share some wider wild flower landscapes from this year.   The first image is from Jackson Field in South Chagrin Reservation of the Cleveland Metro Parks.  In mid May each year, a huge display of wild hyacinth greets the visitor.

Late April brings forth the most beautiful display of wild flowers during spring - the beautiful virginia bluebells.

In late May, to cap off the wild flower season, the yellow flag iris display in wetland areas can be spectacular.

Enjoy the holiday weekend and SPRING!!!

Happy Mothers Day

Wishing all of the mothers a very loving mothers day on Sunday.

In that spirit, here is a very tender moment from last summer.   A young 1 year old buck giving a quick nose kiss to his mom one summer morning.

So have a wonderful day with your family and remember we all love of morthers for the sacrifice they give each and every day to us.

Birds and Blooms

This is one of the most beautiful times of years.   The birds are singing, the temperatures are ideal and the large wild flowers are starting to bloom at a feverish pace.

First up is the wild flowers.   Tthe crop of trillium this year is so beautiful.   Here are some images captured over the past week.

Different trillium species from the Johnson Picnic area in the Hinckley Reservation of the Cleveland Metro Parks and the Cottonwood Picnic Area of the Rocky River Reservation of the Cleveland Metro Parks.

Next up is continuing abstract ideas of birds and my project "Energy of Flight"

And finally my find of the week.   While waiting for a foggy scene to change, this bird stalked its way toward me in a local marsh area.    It is called a Virginia Rail.    It is a fairly common bird, but very shy.   It likes to stay in hidden in the marsh habitat and seldom makes itself noticed by people.     I was lucky that this beautiful bird decided to share a few moments with me prior to heading back into the marsh grasses.
